Does clean air REALLY matter?
Well, let's start with a few facts.
- Indoor air is often 5-100 times worse than outside air. Especially in homes with smokers.
- The incidence of asthma is up 50% in the past 10 years alone. FIFTY PERCENT!
- Asthma deaths are over 5,000 per year.
- Our new homes with extra insulation and energy efficient windows TRAP pollutants inside and don't let any fresh air in either.
- 1 in 4 people have sinus related allergies.
- Allergies and asthma related symptoms are basically our body screaming for clean air. What do we do? Ignore the air and take medicine to suppress our bodies reaction to the poor air. I'm not sure how THAT helps, but doctors commonly look to medicine to solve problems instead of handling the source of the problem.
- We breathe over 20,000 times a day. That's over 7 million times a year. Now imagine if the air you are breathing is loaded with dust, pet dander, chemical fumes from new carpets, paint, cleaning detergents, mold spores, pollen and a myriad of other potentially hazardous stuff floating around the air.
- Now, just imagine if you are breathing 20,000 times a day in a home where you or someone else smokes? Did you know that smoke consists of approximately 4,000 chemical compounds, of which 50 are known to cause cancer?
I could go on and on but I wont. Instead, here's a quick question for you:
What is our bodies most important nutrient?
Food? Water?
Nope, it's air. Yeah, AIR!
We can live for days, perhaps a week without food or water. How long can we survive without air? Minutes? Maybe? Enough said.
Bottled water is a multi billion dollar a year business. And there are few studies or even examples of people feeling better or having health issues resolve because they switch from tap water to bottled water.
I have quite a few customers myself who relate significant improvements in their health by the use of a carefully selected air cleaner or purifier.
The good news is that people are catching on. In 2005 the air purification equipment business was roughly worth 3.5 billion. By 2011 it is estimated to be worth 11 billion. Why? People are finally starting to understand that cleaner air can be the difference between poor health and feeling good.
For example: Take Edna Purk of Luckey Ohio. She went from 2-3 asthma attacks a week in her own home to 1 a month and that usually happens outside of her home. Don't think air quality matters? Listen to her story in her own words. Just click play.
Edna Purk, Luckey, Ohio - January, 2006 (Asthma sufferer)
Used the Dynamic Air Cleaner 1" Panel.
So, to wrap up this post. Air quality DOES matter. If you don't believe me, believe Edna.
Until next time, breathe easy!
