There are many things that have an effect on our brains and change our moods without us being completely aware of it. For example, many people have just recently become aware to the way food impacts our minds and our moods. Another influence on us that many folks are not aware of is how smoke affects people’s moods. Believe it or not smoke has been proven to change our moods and alter our mindsets. It doesn’t always have the same effect and, just like anything else, it varies depending on the atmosphere and the individual. If you are outside, smoke is less likely to influence your mood in comparison to a bar or a close-knit room with little ventilation.
The impact smoke plays on us depends greatly on whether or not we smoke. Smokers often rely on their cigarettes to reduce stress and calm their minds. An environment with heavy smoke can have this same influence on a smoker. However, to a non smoker, the smoke in the air can seem heavy and oppressive. If you’re a non smoker, the smoky air can tire you out and make you feel dirty. Non smokers often enjoy the benefits of smoke eaters to lessen these issues. Subconsciously, if you don’t smoke, these factors can also bring about mild depression.
For smokers, even a smoky environment that is well ventilated can change your mood dramatically and cause you to feel withdrawal symptoms. When you smoke, your heart accelerates and you begin to feel better, ultimately experiencing an addictive feeling. However, after the smoke subsides you will feel withdrawal symptoms and your mood will crash. This can happen in an environment that has a little bit of smoke, like an outdoor patio. Many smokers would rather avoid these areas altogether because they begin to experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms which can ruin their evening. This is why smoke eaters have become very popular.
The high that smoke causes for us is temporary. That is why those addicted have to continually smoke throughout the day. The high they receive is very temporary and passes quickly. This factor is also why this habit has become very expensive. Smokers crave the high and it only lasts for a very short time. Non smokers can also slowly get used to a smoky environment and begin craving the high themselves. Second degree smoke is very powerful. Non smokers can soon find themselves addicted to a very expensive drug. Smoke works on our minds in a furtive manner. Before you realize you are addicted it can be too late. Smoke, like food and sunlight, has major affects on our mind and on people’s moods.
